ROCKVILLE, MD –
The DC Grays struggles continue, as the squad lost its fifth straight game on Thursday – a 4-2 loss to the Rockville Express. The loss moves the Grays to a dismal 11-21 this season.
Grays starter Mason Belcher (Catholic U of America) pitched six and two-thirds innings allowing two earned runs and recording two strikeouts. Reliever Evan Baer (Old Dominion) made his second appearance as a pitcher and allowed two runs in the eighth and received the loss.
The Grays only inning of scoring came in the fourth. It started with 1B Miles Jones (Eastern Kentucky) hitting his first triple of the season. RF Darius Gillus (Old Dominion) doubled in Jones, but was then thrown out at third. After C Andrew Webb (Virginia Tech) singled, 3B Jack Denneny (Patrick Henry CC) tripled in Webb for his first RBI of the season.
The Grays will try and turn things around when they return home on Friday to take on the Bethesda Big Train (25-9). Michael Parsons (Dartmouth) is scheduled to start for the Grays.
