The commitment made by DC Grays RBI program of providing high level baseball experiences for youth in Wards 7 and 8 of the District of Columbia took another big step forward recently. Zachary Racusin, a former Ripken League alumni and current Georgetown University player, donated bats, balls, helmets, and equipment to the program. The bats were in great condition and many of the players will use them during the up coming off-season workouts, and their spring and the summer seasons. Coach Brad Burris was excited about the donation from Zach! “As you know baseball equipment can be expensive so having this issue alleviated for our families is huge”, said Brad Burris, Grays RBI Coach.
Zach was diligent in reaching out and coordinating the donation to the Grays RBI program. “With what’s going on with the RBI program and how they are impacting the city, it was a no-brainer. I’m so glad to be here to help the program” Rascusin expressed. This is one of many off-season advances that the Grays RBI program has made this past fall and winter. After successfully operating weekly work-outs/training for 15-20 players on average, the equipment donations is an added plus in the development of the young ball players in the program. “We’re excited about the momentum of our program and look forward to doing more. With help like this, we’re going to really make a difference”, said Coach Burris.
