Silver Spring, MD – – After starting the season hot, the DC Grays are now on ice. They lost their third straight game, getting shut out by the home standing Silver Spring Takoma Thunderbolts 5-0 on Wednesday night. The Grays are now 4-3 in the Ripken League and fall to third place.
The Grays wasted a good outing by starting pitcher Jake Lewis (Eastern Kentucky), who threw six innings,allowing five hits and two runs with five strikeouts. Frank Craska (Lafayette) surrendered three runs in two innings of relief.
The Grays offense was on mute tonight as they only had four hits with eleven strikeouts. 3B Josh Congdon (Wofford) went two for four to continue a recent hot streak. He now leads the team in batting average, sitting at .421. 1B Austin Deming (BYU) and C Reece Yeargain (Randolph-Macon) got the only other hits of the night for DC.
After a day off Thursday, the Grays look to snap their losing streak on Friday at 7pm against the Bethesda Big Train at Shirley Povich Field.
