GAITHERSBURG,MD – -The DC Grays bested the Gaithersburg Giants by a score of 11-8 for their third straight win to remain undefeated to start the young 2019 season. The Giants dropped to 2-1 on the season.
Starting P Tyler Gault (Notre Dame College) started out the game a little shaky, allowing a walk and a home run to the first two batters, but quickly settled down after that. He allowed two more runs in the fourth but only on one hit. P Jacob Hardney (Marymount) came in in relief after that allowing three runs on only two hits over 2.1 innings of work. P Kyle Subers (Lafayette) then entered the game for an additional 1.2 innings of shutout relief during which he would earn the win. P Bryce Ross (Southern) would come in to close the game for the Grays and pitch the 9th inning allowing one run on one hit.
The Grays offense can be almost entirely summed up with the top four hitters. SS Justin Johnson (Lafayette) and LF Noah Searcy (Georgia Southern) continue to shine at the plate. Johnson went three for five with four RBIs and three runs scored. 3B Josh Congdon (Wofford) also made his presence known by going two for three at the plate with a homerun, two walks, and two runs.
After a day off Friday, the Grays’ road trip continues on Saturday at 7PM when they will take on the also undefeated Bethesda Big Train (2-0).
