The DC Grays jumped all over the visiting Gaithersburg Giants at the Nationals Youth Academy on Friday night.  They lead 7-0 after two innings, and the final was 11-3.  DC is now 11-11 on the season and alone in third place in the Ripken League.

The scoring started quickly for the Grays, with six runs in the first inning, and one more in the second. The Grays didn’t look back. The offense cooled off but added four more in the final frame. LF Noah Searcy (Georgia Southern) and RF Jordan Wiley (Louisiana Lafayette) both had multi-hit games, with Wiley going three for five.  The Grays drew six walks and were hit four times by pitches, and the lineup took advantage of the free bases.

The pitching for the Grays was stellar. P Reid McLaughlin (BYU) started with three innings of no-hit baseball only allowing one base runner. Also, P Kyle Subers (Lafayette Col) only allowed one baserunner in two and a third with five strikeouts, and he grabbed the win. The Grays had six different arms pitch in the game, with all of them having some success.

The Grays get an off day on Saturday before hosting the Silver Spring-Takoma T-Bolts at the Nationals Youth Academy on Sunday, a game that can help the Grays move closer to catching the T-Bolts for second place in the standings.  The Grays will salute their DC Grays RBI youth baseball and softball program during the game.  Over 100 youth ball players and their families are expected to attend.
