WASHINGTON, DC – – The DC Grays won their second straight game to start the young season, combining powerful slugging with excellent starting pitching to defeat the FCA Braves 9-4 at the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy.

Starting P Jake Lewis (Eastern Kentucky) was excellent in his first appearance for the Grays, only allowing one base runner and zeros hits through five shutout innings to earn the win. P Frank  Craska (Lafayette) relieved Lewis giving up five hits but only one run in three innings of work. P Colin Cain(Slippery Rock) pitches a rocky ninth inning, however, surrendering three runs and four hits.

The Grays’ scoring started with s grand slam in the second inning by RF Jordan Wiley (Louisiana-Lafayette).  Wiley has a big game – 2-3 with five RBIs .  LF Noah Searcy (Georgia Southern University) also had himself a night, Searcy was 2-2, driving one run in and scoring twice.  SS Justin Johnson (Lafayette) joined Wiley in the “Big Fly” club with a solo shot to left center field in the bottom of the fourth.

The Grays (2-0) take their undefeated record on the road to take on the Gaithersburg Giants (2-0) at 7PM on Thursday.
