LORTON, VA – – The DC Grays traveled to South County High School to face the FCA Braves on Monday night.  It was a long game that included a lightning delay and lots of offense. The Grays came out on the losing end, by a score of 11-9. This was the Grays’ sixth straight loss and they are now 16-20 on the season and sit in fourth place in the Ripken League standings.

The Grays’ offense was not the issue, tallying nine runs on 12 hits throughout the game. A lot of power was showcased, including four home runs by Grays players. The most iconic strike of the night was off the bat of 2B Bryan Call (BYU), who launched a long home run into right field and included a bat flip on a ball that ended up across the street from the field. The offense seemed to be up to the challenge, battling back after the pitching staff had trouble, but eventually the bats ran out of juice.

The Grays pitching performance was lackluster, to say the least. The Braves tallied 11 runs on just six hits, and utilized an excessive amount of walks and wild pitches to bolster their run total. It was a tough night, with no one pitcher having sustained success through multiple innings.

The Grays travel to Bethesda on Tuesday to face the league-leading Big Train, before the Ripken League playoff commence later in the week.
