BETHESDA, MD – – The 2019 Cal Ripken League All-Star Game saw the three Maryland teams (Big Train, Giants, and T-Bolts) face off against the Grays and the two Virginia teams (Braves and Aces).  Team Maryland dominated the contest, defeating team DC/VA  12-3, while never trailing in the game and leading by as much as 12 runs.

The Grays players that participated in the All-Star game didn’t have the best performance collectively, likely because of having three games in the past two days. Only four of the 11 selected Grays participated, for rest/fatigue purposes. SS Justin Johnson (Lafayette Col), RF Jordan Wiley (Louisiana Lafayette), and LF Noah Searcy (Georgia Southern) were all starters for team DC/VA. 1B/P Austin Deming (BYU) entered to pitch the seventh inning and retired team Maryland in order, striking out one. Deming threw 11 strikes in 16 total pitches in an impressive showing of his versatility.

The Grays get a day of rest of Thursday before resuming Friday as they battle the FCA Braves at the Nationals Youth Academy. The Grays are still in second place in the standings at 16-15, and look to hold on for a first round playoff bye.
