Grays Show Flashes, Fall to Aces
By: Ethan Wentworth
The Grays showed some flashes on both offense and defense, but ultimately couldn't overcome the Ace's firepower, losing 16-4.
The Grays started off well in the first inning with Connor Lawrence (Marist) scoring on a ground out to second base by Evan Wilson (Richmond).
The Aces fired back immediately in the 2nd inning, scoring 3 runs to take a lead they would never relinquish.
The Aces were up 6-1 by the end of the 4th inning, but the Grays weren't going down without a fight. In the 5th inning, they scored a run via Andrew Bogansky (Marist) on a passed ball, but the Aces offense would add to their lead in the bottom of the inning, scoring 3 more runs.
In the 6th inning, Bogansky (Marist) hit an RBI single scoring Parker Shenman (Catholic). Evan Wilson (Richmond) also scored what would be the Grays' final run on a passed ball.
On defense, the Grays provided a highlight by executing a beautiful double play at first base and home plate to prevent a run in the 3rd inning, with Andrew Bogansky (Marist) making the connection to Drew Rybinski (Georgetown).
The Grays will look to bounce back in their home opener Thursday 6/4 against the Metro South County Braves at 7 PM at Robert J. Talbot Field.
