Bethesda Big Train
On the 27th of June, The DC Grays played a tough Bethesda Big Train team. Gardini started for Big Train and held the Grays to one run across two innings, a home run by Drew Rybinski (Georgetown) put the Grays on the board in the 2nd inning.
After the 2nd inning, a rain delay took place. The game would then restart with the Grays down, 2-1. Through 6 innings, the Big Train pitchers contained the Grays' hitters, letting up just one hit.
Over the course of the game, the Grays threw 6 different pitchers that gave up 9 hits and 10 earned runs against the solid Big Train offense. The Grays went down 14-1 through 6 innings.
Coach Kelli Jenkins, the Grays pitching coach, was honored after the game on the field for being the first woman to pitch in the Cal Ripken League. It was a special moment for the teams to recognize this historic achievement.
