Cropdusters Pull Away Late, Hand Grays 10-1 Loss
By: Ethan Wentworth
The Grays had some solid individual performances, however they weren't enough as the Grays fell to the Olney Cropdusters 10-1 at Robert J. Talbot Field.
The Cropdusters were first on the board in this affair, scoring a run in the first inning. The Grays defense responded well, preventing Olney from scoring in the second.
The lead continued to grow throughout the game for the top ranked team in the league, with the Cropdusters scoring 3 runs in the third inning and 1 in the fourth. The Grays would then score their lone run of the game, with Jackson Loomis (Denison) grounding out but scoring Hartley Rahman (Catawba).
Olney would immediately respond in the fifth inning as they would double their runs, scoring 5 within the frame. The Grays would then put in reliever Mike Niszczak (Dickinson) who would have a great performance. He'd pitch the last 2 innings, allowing no hits and throwing 3 strikeouts.
The Grays' offense was never able to get going however, and they were defeated 10-1 at home. Xavier Bradley (Southern) had the play of the game on offense for the Grays, hitting a double to left field in the seventh. Freeman Hunt (Dickinson) also had a good performance, hitting 1-2 and receiving a walk.
The Grays look to get back in the win column 7/5 in Gaithersburg against the Giants at 4PM at Criswell Automotive Field.
