Grays Drop 11–3 Decision to Thunderbolts After Early Lead
By: Ethan Wentworth
The Grays got off to an early lead in this game but wouldn't be able to maintain it, losing 11-3 to the Silver-Spring Tacoma Thunderbolts 11-3 at Robert J. Talbot Field.
This game started off hot, with the Thunderbolts scoring in the opening frame and the Grays immediately tying the score on a Xavier Bradley (Southern) ground out to score Hartley Rahman (Catawba). The Grays would take the lead in the second inning, with Drew Rybinski (Georgetown) scoring off a wild pitch and Ryan Stoddard (Lafayette) scoring off a Hartley Rahman (Catawba) sacrifice fly.
That would unfortunately be the last run of the game for D.C., as they struggled at the plate for the rest of the game. The Thunderbolts would capitalize off this, scoring twice in the fifth, twice in the sixth, twice seventh, and three times in eighth inning to get to a final score of 11-3.
While it wasn't the Grays' finest performance on either end of the field, they still had some salvageable performances. Hartley Rahman (Catawba) continues to impress for the team, going 1-3 at the plate, scoring a run, and driving in a RBI. Ryan Stoddard (Lafayette) also had a good day, hitting 1-3 and scoring a run.
The Grays look to put this one past them and will be heading to Olney on 7/12 to play the Cropdusters at 6PM at First Responder Field.
