Rybinski's Grand Slam Highlights Grays' 10-5 Loss to Senators

The Grays would have some productive individual outings including a Drew Rybinski (Georgetown) grand slam, however they were defeated by the Senators 10-5 in the second half of their doubleheader at Robert J. Talbot Field.

This game would start off rough for the Grays, as the Senators blew them up on the scoreboard, putting up 2, 3, and 5 runs in the first 3 innings respectively. The Grays' bats wouldn't pick up for most of this game, though on the mound reliever Casey Edwards (Washington College) would have a great performance in his 3 innings of burn, allowing no runs on no hits and punching in 3 strikeouts.

In the bottom of the 7th and final inning, the Grays offense woke up, starting with a Carter Sweeneey-Strawberry (Rutgers) single to score Caden Brown (Southern). Then with the bases loaded, Drew Rybinski (Georgetown) would step up and send a ball 388 feet over the scoreboard on a grand slam to score newcomer Amari Allen (Chatahooche Valley Community), Carter Sweeney-Strawberry (Rutgers), Beny Bikar Jr. (Southern), and himself.

This would end up being too little too late, as the Grays would be defeated 10-5 to end their doubleheader against Southern Maryland. Drew Rybinski (Georgetown) was the star of the show for this matchup, hitting a grand slam in his lone knock of the game. Joey Chitla (William & Mary) and Benny Bikar Jr. (Southern) would both continue their solid hitting seasons, going 2-3 at the plate with Bikar Jr. scoring a run.

The Grays next game is a contest at home against the Big Train 7/20 at 7PM, with D.C. looking to help their playoff seeding.
