Since 2016, DC Grays Baseball has been operating a youth baseball/softball program for kids from underserved areas of the DMV. By offering free baseball and softball programs to boys and girls from all over Washington, our DC Grays MVP program is bringing baseball and softball to inner-city DC and the surrounding community. The majority of kids in DC Grays MVP are from Wards 6, 7 and 8 – the most economically-disadvantaged areas of the city.
Our program is made up of the following: Ward 7 Baseball - our summer "house" league for kids 10-12 years old. Junior Softball - this is a developmental program for girls up to age 12. Travel Softball (8U/10U/12U) - this is a travel-team format for more advanced players Junior Travel Baseball (8U/10U/12U) - this is a travel-team format for more advanced players Senior Travel Baseball (15U/18U) - these teams compete in regional tournaments against top competition.
We are pleased that DC Grays MVP includes kids from several DC Little Leagues - including Mamie Johnson LL, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB) LL, Senators-Satchel Paige LL and Banneker City LL - as well as many middle school and high school baseball programs from DC and surrounding areas. This year we are making a more focused effort to reach out to families in nearby Prince George's County (MD) to offer additional opportunities for kids in those communities. We are always reaching out to additional Little Leagues and other youth baseball and softball programs to get more kids to participate in DC Grays MVP.
We want to make baseball and softball more available to more kids - regardless of ability to pay. That's why all DC Grays MVP programs are offered at no cost.
DC Grays MVP also has fall and winter programming.
In addition to a full summer slate of games, our teams participate in the Diamonds in the Rough tournament in Philadelphia, the Metro Junior Baseball Championships in Richmond, and an annual series with our friends from the Anderson Monarchs in Philadelphia. We also participate in multiple clinics and showcases hosted by TEC Baseball, which is run by Georgetown Hoya head baseball coach Edwin Thompson.
Great things are happening! Come join us...
