Your organization can help make a difference in the lives of kids across the DC area by supporting the community outreach efforts of the DC Grays.
DC GRAYS RBI – In 2016 we partnered with Major League Baseball to launch DC Grays RBI to support baseball and softball in inner-city Washington. In the years since, we have expanded our DC Grays RBI program - and last year 290 kids participated in DC Grays RBI activities. This summer, DC Grays RBI will sponsor “travel” level teams for kids primarily from Wards 6, 7, and 8, and we will also operate our Ward 7 Baseball summer baseball league at Fort Davis Rec Center. At the end of the summer, three DC Grays RBI teams will represent Washington, DC in the RBI Mid-Atlantic tournament in Norfolk, VA. We will again have a full off-season training program, and we are underwriting the costs of having our baseball and softball players attend college showcases. All participation is free!
FREE BASEBALL and SOFTBALL CLINICS – As we have done in years past, we will be working with the Washington Nationals Youth Academy and with Mamie Johnson Little League, Ward 7 Baseball and other area youth leagues to conduct a series youth baseball and softball clinics for kids from under-served areas across DC. We also partner with Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB) to conduct clinics for military families.
SUPPORT for PUBLIC SCHOOL BASEBALL and SOFTBALL – In 2016 and 2017, the Grays supported the baseball team at Sousa Middle School – providing the team with bats, gloves, hats, practice gear and graining for coaches. We also helped KIPP College Prep Charter School establish a softball program – recruiting coaches and hosting informal workouts, In 2018, KIPP won the DC Charter School championship in just their second season.
We do not charge a penny for any of these programs. We want the DC Grays to be “ambassadors for baseball” – and that means making the great game of baseball available to all, regardless of the ability to pay.
