Grays to partner with local food trucksThe DC Grays are working on plans to improve game-day food service for their games at Hoy Field at Gallaudet University. The Grays are partnering with local food truck vendors to provide food and drinks for Grays fans at home games for the 2013 Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League season. The team has already reached agreements with two leading food trucks in the community. DC Slices will bring the city’s best pizza to Hoy Field for eight home games in June, and Shaffer’s BBQ Palace will roll in with chicken, pork, beef brisket and ribs for two June home games. Both DC Slices and Shaffer’s BBQ Palace will serve soda, bottled water and other non-alcoholic drinks – and both have agreed to also sell hot dogs for Grays fans at every game. (After all, what’s a baseball game without hot dogs?) “This is a great deal for our fans,” said Grays President Mike Barbera. “They will get some of the best food in the area at reasonable prices. Our goal is to get food trucks to Hoy Field for every home game. It’s another way that we can improve the game-day experience.” Barbera also noted this will be one of several improvements for the Grays In 2013. There is a new scoreboard at Hoy Field, new sunken dugouts will soon be completed, and batting cages are being installed. The Grays are still soliciting food truck vendors for its July home games. The Ripken League regular season begins on June 6 and ends on July 28. Interested vendors can contact Mike Barbera at [email protected].
