GAME RECAP 6-21-2015
By: Anna Dunlavey; @annadunlavey Another day, seemingly another loss for the D.C. Grays. Last night they fell to the Rockville Express 4-1. It was the Grays’ sixth loss in a row and brings their record to 6-10 on the season. Starting pitcher Harry Thomas (UNC Greensboro) took the hard-luck loss after pitching seven solid innings. He gave up three runs (only two were earned) on sox hits. Zack Irwin (East Mississippi CC) pitched the eighth inning, giving up two hits and one run. The Grays’ only run was scored by 3B Keifer Rawlings (Bucknell) in the top of the eighth. Rawlings walked, and Quinn Carpenter (Texas Tech), one of the Grays most consistent hitters, brought him home with a single. The Grays are the only team in the league that did not have either a scheduled day off or a game cancelled due to rain this week. They have now played 12 games in 12 days, and will have to play two more before they get a chance to rest. The team will travel to Virginia for a Monday double header against the Vienna Riverdogs. The first game will begin at 4:00, and the second game will begin at 7:00.
