GAME RECAP (Grays vs. Aces 6-16-16)
By: DCGrays Radio: Josh Shelton @JoshNLISports After getting blown out Wednesday night by the Baltimore Redbirds, the DC Grays came back with a vengeance against the Alexandria Aces. The Grays improved to 4-5 on the year with the 5-0 win, solidifying their spot in fourth place of the Cal South division of the Ripken League. The game only lasted six and half innings due to inclement weather. The Grays took advantage of a steady wind blowing out to left field, blasting two home runs. RF Jawan McAllister (Pittsburgh) sent a solo shot over the bullpen into straightaway left in the opening frame. C Evan Pace (SE Louisiana) followed suit with a dinger of his own in the bottom of the fourth. Offensive production was spread out between the two through six hitters, each recording an RBI. The two homers were the first two given up by normally strong Aces pitching staff. Only one pitcher was needed for the Grays. RHP David Giusti (Lafayette) threw six and one third shutout innings. Giusti allowed just three hits, recorded two strikeouts, and improved to two wins in two starts. The Grays will travel to Bethesda tonight to take on the Big Train at 7:30pm EST.
