GAME RECAP (Grays vs. Redbirds 6-16-16)
By: DCGrays Radio: Josh Shelton @JoshNLISports The DC Grays struggled in Wednesday’s 12-0 home loss to the Baltimore Redbirds (6-2). The lopsided loss to the defending Ripken League champions snapped the Grays’ two-game win streak, and dropped DC to 3-5 on the season. The Grays are now tied for fourth place in the Ripken League South division, and are three games behind the first-place Alexandria Aces (6-2). Offense was in short supply for the Grays, as the team recorded only four singles. There was only one batter to reach base twice in the game, LF Jawan McAllister (Pittsburgh), who had a single and a walk in four plate appearances. Defensive woes continued, as the Grays committed five errors, resulting in six of the 12 runs being ruled unearned. The Grays pitching staff had trouble on the mound as well, recording only five strikeouts and allowing two home runs. Grays starter Matthew Dalke (SE Louisiana) took the loss. The Grays will look to bounce back from on Thursday back home at the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy, where they will host the Aces at 7:00pm. The Grays will be hosting players, coaches and volunteers from Mamie Johnson Little League at the game.
