GAME RECAP (Grays vs Big Train 6-7-2016)
DCGrays.com Radio: By Josh Shelton The DC Grays looked to start their Ripken League season off on the right foot against the Bethesda Big Train Tuesday night at the Washington Nationals Academy in the home opener for both teams. Unfortunately, the Big Train had other ideas – and the final tally was a lopsided 13-1 Grays loss. RHP Simon Rosenblum-Larson (Harvard) was given the start against the Big Train’s RHP Sean Berry (U. of San Diego). Both pitchers got off to a hot start, each retiring the first six batters they faced. Rosenblum-Larson, however, would give up four runs on 2 hits in the third, while Berry would continue his dominance up until the fifth inning. In that frame, 1B Tyler Thomas (Shepherd U.) would walk on six pitches and would score on C Lucas Martinez’s (Cal. St.-San Bernadino) RBI double. That would be it for the Grays’ scoring for the night. The dagger of the night came from a Big Train seven-run eighth inning and the Grays would not answer, although they threatened in the bottom of the ninth after LF Luke Robinson’s (Lafayette) double and Thomas’ single. Those hits, however, were just that, a threat, and the Grays could not surmount a 13-1 loss to the Bethesda Big Train. The Grays, who only had three hits, will look to get into the win column tomorrow night where they will travel to Blair Stadium take on the Silver Spring-Tacoma T-Bolts at 7:00pm. RHP Matthew Dalke (SE Louisiana) will take the mound for the Grays.
