DCGrays.com Press The Grays dropped a high-scoring affair to the visiting FCA Herndon Braves at the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy on Friday night, losing by a score of 10-7. The loss drops the Grays’ Ripken League record to 1-3 on the young season. The Grays’ bats struck early and led after one inning. After CF Jawann McAllister (Pittsburgh) led off with a double, LF Luke Robinson (Lafayette) with a double. After a single by 3B Marques Inman (West Virginia), DH Lucas Martinez (Cal State San Bernadino) scored Robinson with an RBI ground out and the Grays lead 2-0. The Grays fell behind after four innings but quickly rebounded to tie the game at six with a two RBI triple from RF Lamar Briggs (Jackson State) in the bottom of the sixth. The Grays then allowed three runs in the top of the seventh and one in the top of the ninth. The score was 10-6 as the Grays batted in the bottom of the ninth. 1B Drake Hollingsworth (Alabama-Huntsville) gave the home fans hope when he crushed a 3-1 offering for his first home run of the season.
