GAME RECAP (Grays vs. Express 6-9-16)
By: DCGrays Radio: Josh Shelton @JoshNLISports Both the Baltimore Dodgers and the visiting DC Grays brought hot bats to their game Saturday night. The Grays were on the short end of the slugfest, falling 18-9 and sliding into last place of the Cal Ripken Collegiate South with a record of 1-4. At the plate, the Grays continue to produce runs with 1B Marques Inman (West Virginia) leading the charge, going 3 for 5 with two extra-base hits and a pair of RBIs. CF Jawan McAllister (Pittsburgh) also produced, with three hits, including a double, two RBIs, but was thrown out on two stolen base attempts. It was another tough night for the Grays pitching staff, as they allowed double-digit runs for the second night in a row. The starter, RHP Evan Jordan (SE Louisiana), only lasted two and third innings, allowing eight runs, four earned, on nine hits. The only pitcher out of the four who took the mound to not give up a run was RHP Trey Congleton (Fairleigh Dickinson) who pitched two innings and only allowed a single hit while recording three strikeouts. The Grays team ERA jumped to an unsightly 6.49 after tonight’s loss. The Grays defense also struggled as they committed six errors in the field resulting in only half of the runs scored by the Dodgers being ruled earned runs. The team will look to snap a two game losing streak Sunday back home against the Vienna River Dogs (3-3) at 1:00pm at the Washington Nationals Youth Academy.
