Even in a season that did not end in a playoff berth, several Grays had outstanding summers on the field. Three Grays were named to the 2023 All-League first and second team for the CRCBL. Outfielder Henry Zipay (Nebraska-Omaha) and starting pitcher Diego Barrett (North Carolina A&T), both returning players for the DC Grays, were announced to the CRCBL First Team All- League. Zipay finished the season with a .333 batting average, 90 at-bats, 30 hits, 14 runs, 10 RBIs, and 4 stolen bases in 26 games. Zipay displayed his offensive prowess as he led the Grays in batting average, hits, and doubles (8). Barrett started seven games as he finished with a 2-2 record and a monster 1.60 ERA. Barrett recorded 39.1 innings pitched, allowed 31 hits, 9 runs (7 earned), and 32 strikeouts while surrendering just 10 walks. Starting pitcher Eddie Kaftan (Mitchell) was announced to the CRCBL Second Team All- League. In week 2, Kaftan was honored with the Pitcher of the Week award. Kaftan finished with a 3-2 record in eight starts while recording 46. 2 innings pitched. Kaftan surrendered 24 runs (19 earned) on 45 hits, but was able to strike out 29 batters allowing just 13 walks the entire season.
