Andrew Houghton 7/6/13
The Grays beat the Presstman Cardinals 6-1 Saturday at Joe Cannon to move to 10-13 on the season. Starter Henry Sisson (North Carolina) led the way with a sparkling performance, giving up a run in the second but recovering to pitch 8.1 innings with seven strikeouts. The Grays took the lead in the third when Peyton Fuller (Troy University) singled to lead off the inning and Greg Olenski (Maryland) followed with his third home run of the season. They added another run in the sixth when Fuller tripled home shortstop DJ Miller (Delaware State). That would have been enough for Sisson, but the Grays tacked on two more in the top of the ninth on a wild pitch and an error by the Cardinals shortstop. Sisson got the first out in the bottom of the ninth and looked headed for the complete game but walked the next batter on four straight pitches and gave way to Brian Robett (Greensboro College), who quickly got the last two outs to seal the game for the Grays. The Grays play next on Sunday, July 7 at 1:00 pm against the Southern Maryland Nationals at Hoy Field.
