Ripken League Press 7/9/13
GAME 1: Grays 3, Big Train 1
Thomas Murphy (Williams) had a stellar outing, going six-plus innings, allowing only one run on four hits. Jayson Yano (Stevens Inst of Tech) entered the game in the bottom of the seventh to earn the save. Peyton Fuller (Troy) and Greg Olenski (Maryland) both had RBI doubles in the third which was all the offense the Grays needed to defeat the Big Train in the first game of the double header.
GAME 2: Big Train 2, Grays 0
In game two, Michael Boyle (Radford) pitched a complete seven inning game shutout, allowing only three hits, two walks, and striking out seven. David Del Grande (Sacramento State) had a lead-off home run in the first inning, followed by an RBI single from Harrison Bruce (San Francisco) in the second. With Boyle’s dominance, it was enough for the Big Train to take the win and split the double header.
