The Grays started their season in style today with a 5-3 win over the Baltimore Presstman Cardinals in steady rain at Hoy Field. Catcher Cody Walker (Mississippi State) led the Grays attack, batting three for four and driving in four runs, including a two-run single that broke a 3-3 tie in the eighth. Second baseman Jayson Yano (Stevens Tech) also reached base three times and sparkled in the field, making a brilliant diving stop to end the fifth inning with a runner on third and teaming up with shortstop DJ Miller (Delaware State) to turn an important double play with runners on first and second in the eighth. Left-hander Henry Sisson (North Carolina) started for the Grays and gave up 3 runs in 6.0 innings with 3 strikeouts before yielding to BYU right-hander Chunner Nyberg (1-0), who pitched two scoreless innings to get the win. Yahya Muhammad (Coppin State) worked around two walks and a hit in a scoreless ninth to get the save. Center fielder Jordan Glover (Harford CC) reached base four times for the Cardinals and their starter Jacob Enterlin (Johns Hopkins) struck out 9 in only six innings, but it was all for naught as the Grays took the win. The Grays are on the road Friday night, as they travel to Alexandria to take on the Aces at Frank Mann Field at 7:00pm.
