Grays lose to Redbirds
July 2, 2012 – The DC Grays lost their third straight game, as the first-place Baltimore Redbirds won a tight 3-2 contest. The ‘Birds took a 3-0 lead in the second inning, and held on for the one-run win. The loss dropped the Grays to 10-13 in their inaugural season in the Ripken League.
Once again, right-hander Joe Donino (1-3) did not get much run support from his offense and took the loss despite giving the Grays a solid 7 2/3 innings on the mound. The Grays mustered just seven hits against four Redbirds hurlers, with RF Josh Powell (Alcorn State) and 1B Kris Moules (Morehead State) leading the way with two hits apiece.
