Grays move up with extra inning winJuly 25, 2012 – The DC Grays continued their move up the Ripken League standings with an exciting 8-7 tenth-inning win over the Alexandria Aces at Hoy Field. The Grays are now 18-19 in their inaugural season, and in sixth place in the league standings with five games left to play.
Grays CF Josh Powell (Alcorn State) lashed a line-drive single to right field, scoring SS Zach Lopes (Delaware) from third with the winning run in the bottom of the tenth. Other offensive stars included Lopes with four hits, 2B Mike Genovese (Seton Hall) with two hits, C Manny Cabreja (Columbia) with two hits, and RF Matt Kianka (Central Arizona CC) with three hits. LF John Beaubien hit his eighth home run of the season in the fifth inning. Click here for stats and the boxscore. The Grays continue their busy late-season schedule with a doubleheader Thursday in Waldorf against the Southern Maryland Nationals. The first game starts at 5:00pm.
