Grays win slugfest against BravesJune 23, 2012 – The Grays hot-hitting continued Friday night, as they won a 14-13 high-scoring affair against the homestanding Herndon Braves. The Grays moved to 6-9 on the season, their inaugural season in the Cal Ripken League.
Grays C Brian Robbett (Greensboro) led the hit parade with four hits and five RBI, including a grand slam. LF John Beaubein (Seton Hall) had three hits and SS Zach Lopes (Delaware) and 3B Troy Marrow (NC Central) had two hits apiece. The big offensive output made a winner out of do-everything Mike Genovese (Seton Hall), who came in from his position at 2B to pitch three innings of effective relief. The Grays return home to Hoy Field Sunday for an afternoon doubleheader against Youse’s Orioles, starting at 1:00pm.
