Grays outslug Braves again.
June 28, 2012 – For the second time in less than a week, the DC Grays and Herndon Braves sent baseballs flying all over McCulloch Field. The Grays jumped out to a big lead before the Braves bats came alive and roughed up the Grays bullpen. In the end, the Grays held on for a 15-10 road win–the team’s fifth win in six games.
Grays CF Josh Powell (Alcorn State) and DH Manny Cabreja (Columbia) led the attack–each with three hits, including a home run. C Brian Robbett (Greensboro) also had three hits, driving in three runs. Danny O’Donnell (George Washington) ran his record to 3-0 on the season with another solid outing, as he scattered seven hits and one walk over six innings and left with an 8-1 lead. The win lifted the Grays to .500 (10-10) for the first time since the first week of the season, and with nearly half the season complete the expansion Grays are in fourth place in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League.
The Grays travel to Montgomery Blair Stadium on Friday to take on the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts at 7:00pm.
