The Grays hosted the Capitol Hill Little League at their game at Hoy Field against the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts last week. The DC RBI Little League is part of the national “Reviving Baseball in the Inner-city” (RBI) program, funded in part by Major League Baseball. The young ballplayers that will be at Hoy Field on Saturday night are some of the most accomplished in the DC RBI program, since they also play in the CBA Travel League in addition to the DC RBI Little League.
Grays President Mike Barbera and General Manager Antonio Scott met Corey Jordan, coach of the DC RBI all-stars, at a Washington Nationals youth baseball clinic at National Park on May 19, and discussed the idea of working together to promote youth baseball in Washington. “We are very excited to host the DC RBI all-stars at Hoy Field,” said Grays General Manager Antonio Scott. “This is central to our mission to promote youth baseball in Washington, DC. We want our DC Grays players to be positive role models for young inner-city kids from all over the community.”
