GAME RECAP (Grays vs. Redbirds 6-16-16)
By: DCGrays Radio: Josh Shelton @JoshNLISports The DC Grays struggled in Wednesday’s 12-0 home loss to the Baltimore Redbirds (6-2). The lopsided loss to the defending Ripken League champions snapped the Grays’ two-game win streak, and dropped DC to 3-5 on the season. The Grays are now tied for fourth place in the Ripken League South division, and are three games behind the first-place Alexandria Aces (6-2). Offense was in short supply for the Grays, as the team recorded only four singles. There was only one batter to reach base twice in the game, LF Jawan McAllister (Pittsburgh), who had a single and a walk in four plate appearances. Defensive woes continued, as the Grays committed five errors, resulting in six of the 12 runs being ruled unearned. The Grays pitching staff had trouble on the mound as well, recording only five strikeouts and allowing two home runs. Grays starter Matthew Dalke (SE Louisiana) took the loss. The Grays will look to bounce back from on Thursday back home at the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy, where they will host the Aces at 7:00pm. The Grays will be hosting players, coaches and volunteers from Mamie Johnson Little League at the game.

DCGrays.com Press: Blane Crouse @bcrouse_6 BOXSCORE: http://calripken_stats.bbstats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=321604 The DC Grays topped the Gaithersburg Giants in extra innings 13-9 on Monday night in Gaithersburg. The victory was the second straight for the Grays bringing their record to 3-4 on the young season. The Grays now sit in fourth place in the South Division standings but are only two games out of first place. The Giants struck first with a five run first inning off Grays starter Bo Burrup (BYU), putting DC in an early hole. In the top of the second inning the Grays began to chip away at the Giants’ lead as 3B Marques Inman (West Virginia) singled and eventually scored on a balk, and RF Khevin Brewer (Rice) singled and later scored on a double-play grounder by SS Chris Perez (Grambling). Later in the inning, 2B Parker Farley (Alabama-Huntsville) singled to right field, scoring C Lucas Martinez (Cal. State-San Bernardino), who had reached on a walk. At the end of four innings, the Grays trailed 7-3 and looked to rally. They did just that in the top of the fifth, cutting the Giants lead to one with RBIs from LF Jawan McAllister (Pittsburgh) and DH Drake Hollingsworth (Alabama-Huntsville). The Grays took their first lead of the game in the top of the eighth inning on a RBI triple from CF Denz’l Chapman (San Diego State). The lead wouldn’t last long, as the Giants tied the game in the bottom of the eighth. After a scoreless night the game headed to extra innings. In the top of the tenth the Grays exploded for four runs as OF Luke Robinson (Lafayette) scored on a throwing error and McAllister, Hollingsworth and Inman all drove in key runs. Pitcher Jake Josephs (Old Dominion) then quickly retired all three Giants batters in the bottom of the tenth to secure the win. Josephs (1-0) pitched solid baseball in relief of Burrup. GAME RECAP (Grays vs. Riverdogs 6-12-2016)
DCGrays.com Press: Blane Crouse @bcrouse_6 After two lopsided losses, the DC Grays badly needed a win on Sunday as they took the field against the Vienna Riverdogs at the Nationals Youth Academy. Thanks to a complete game performance by Jacob Erikson (San Diego St.), they got one. Grays topped the Vienna Riverdogs 3-2 on a windy afternoon, raising their record to 2-4 going into tomorrow night’s road game against the Gaithersburg Giants. The Grays scored first in the bottom of the second inning on one of the rarest plays in baseball. C Evan Pace (SE Louisiana) stole home to give the Grays the early lead. The Grays then added to their lead in the bottom of the third as infielder Marques Inman (West Virginia) drove in outfielder Denz’l Chapman (San Diego St). Inman stole third base and then scored on a throwing error by the Riverdogs, extending the Grays’ lead to 3-0 early in the game. In the top of the fourth inning the Riverdogs scored their first run on a throwing error by the Grays. The Riverdogs added another run in the top of the fifth inning as Shaun Wood (West Virginia) doubled to bring the Riverdogs within a run of tying the game. That was all the scoring for the Riverdogs as Erikson pitched four straight innings of shutout baseball and the Grays notched their second win of the year. Erikson went nine innings allowing only one earned run and striking out five Riverdog batters. Erikson displayed dominance throughout the game as no Riverdog batter recorded more than one hit off of him. Inman continued to produce for the Grays, going one for two with a walk, a RBI, a stolen base and a run scored. Pace also added two hits, a stolen base and a run scored. Chapman proved to be an effective leadoff hitter as he got on base three times to jumpstart the Grays offense. On Monday, the Grays will travel to Criswell Automotive Field in Gaithersburg, to take on the Giants (3-2) at 7:00pm. On the mound for the Grays will be left-hander Bo Burrup (BYU). Lefty Jacob Brewer (West Virginia) will get the start for the Giants. By: DCGrays.com Press

On the mound to start today’s game for the Grays is Jacob Erikson (San Diego State). This will be his first start of the season and he looks to salvage what has been a dismal weekend for the Grays. First pitch is scheduled for 1PM. GAME RECAP (Grays vs. Express 6-9-16)
By: DCGrays Radio: Josh Shelton @JoshNLISports Both the Baltimore Dodgers and the visiting DC Grays brought hot bats to their game Saturday night. The Grays were on the short end of the slugfest, falling 18-9 and sliding into last place of the Cal Ripken Collegiate South with a record of 1-4. At the plate, the Grays continue to produce runs with 1B Marques Inman (West Virginia) leading the charge, going 3 for 5 with two extra-base hits and a pair of RBIs. CF Jawan McAllister (Pittsburgh) also produced, with three hits, including a double, two RBIs, but was thrown out on two stolen base attempts. It was another tough night for the Grays pitching staff, as they allowed double-digit runs for the second night in a row. The starter, RHP Evan Jordan (SE Louisiana), only lasted two and third innings, allowing eight runs, four earned, on nine hits. The only pitcher out of the four who took the mound to not give up a run was RHP Trey Congleton (Fairleigh Dickinson) who pitched two innings and only allowed a single hit while recording three strikeouts. The Grays team ERA jumped to an unsightly 6.49 after tonight’s loss. The Grays defense also struggled as they committed six errors in the field resulting in only half of the runs scored by the Dodgers being ruled earned runs. The team will look to snap a two game losing streak Sunday back home against the Vienna River Dogs (3-3) at 1:00pm at the Washington Nationals Youth Academy.
